Child Legacy International is Transforming Lives

Before co-founding Ceatus Media Group (publisher of Better Vision Guide), I founded VectorVision, a company specializing in the standardization of contrast sensitivity, glare sensitivity, low contrast acuity and ETDRS acuity vision testing. Through my work with VectorVision I’ve had the great pleasure of meeting some brilliant and inspiring people, and making some truly meaningful connections in the eye care community. Dr. Rick Sponsel is one such person.
Dr. Sponsel is an internationally recognized ophthalmologist and glaucoma researcher from San Antonio. He recently approached me about an organization he’s working with called Child Legacy International. It is a Christian non-profit organization working in Africa to transform lives by providing opportunities that break the generational cycle of poverty and despair. Dr. Sponsel partnered with Child Legacy International to establish a sophisticated state-of-the-art medical facility near Lilongwe, Malawi. The facility has had a huge impact, providing treatment for more than 60,000 Malawian patients over the last 10 years.
VectorVision works with a number of charitable organizations, so when Dr. Sponsel approached me about helping with the Child Legacy International project, we jumped at the chance to help. We recently donated a CSV-1000E, a self-calibrating device that can be used in virtually any environment to achieve consistent contrast sensitivity measurements. The CSV-1000E will be used to help detect glaucoma in the early stages and help track the efficacy of treatment.
I am privileged to have the opportunity to participate in such an incredibly worthwhile cause.
